Today’s word prompt Conjure reminded me of my all time favorite book series “Harry Potter”.Conjuring spells – They were a group of spells in the subject of transfiguration, used to conjure things.
I was introduced to this book at the age of 12, by my cousin. Reading this book, one escapes to a new land altogether, a school that teaches you magic “Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry”.
Hogwarts, The Leaky Cauldron, Diagon alley, Gringotts, Hogsmeade, Forbidden Forest, Ministry of Magic, Godric Hollow are just some of the places that we have visited in our journey through these book series.
One is also introduced to the dark side of magic, through the eyes of Lord Voldemort a.k.a Tom Marvolo Riddle with his love for dark magic and the formidable horcruxes.
My favorite characters have obviously been the trio i.e Harry, Ron and Hermione. Loved Harry for his courage and bravery, Ron for his happy, fun-loving nature and Hermione for being the beauty with brains lass. She would really get the boys through, in sticky situations.
Being a Muggle, imagine getting a letter from Hogwarts, inviting us to study in the school of magic. It would be fascinating to board the Hogwarts express , eat Mars bars from the trolley and travel by boat ride with Hagrid to Hogwarts, to be met by Professor Mcgonagall at the entrance, ready to be sorted in one of the four houses, being Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
I would secretly hope that if I get a chance to enroll in Hogwarts, I would want to be in the House of Gryffindor. Once, I even played the Hogwarts quiz, was suggested the House of Ravenclaw, but as said by Professor Dumbledore, the Sorting Hat considers the choice that we make as well.
Some of my favorite quotes from the book series are:
“It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities”
” It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live”
“Marauder’s Map – I solemnly swear that I am up to no good“
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of time, if one only remembers to turn on the light”
“We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy”
Thank you J.K Rowling for adding these exciting and fun moments in my childhood and teaching me the value of friendship, love , sacrifice, courage and the ultimate victory of good over evil.
Lastly, I would dedicate this blog to all my crazy friends who love Harry Potter and have pestered me enough to narrate the stories all the time!
Love you guys!
