Wilderness Life

One step from the road,

Passing into the woods,

The silence that showed,

Unsaid words understood.

Surrounded by trees,

A deserted cabin,

With the sounds of nature,

It beckoned me within.

In the middle of nowhere,

Just me in the outdoors,

Life seems to get better,

Even though it has hit a pause.

  1. I love the flow of this piece. The push and pull between each pair of lines fits beautifully with the theme of resting away from life’s chaos. Life is trying to pull the narrator back, but they’re determined not to give in. Not yet. The wilderness needs our time too. Beautiful.
